Good news and bad news

In normal circumstances, I would be announcing the release of Book 10 of the DS Pete Gayle series, No Good Deed, anytime now. Unfortunately, there’s good news and bad news in that regard. Creativity is a strange and inexplicable thing, affected by all sorts of factors. My own seemed to get suddenly smothered at the beginning of this year. For the first 10 or 11 weeks, I could barely write anything worthwhile. This was at least partly due to my illness but I know I would be far from alone if it was also partly due to the Covid lockdown. I have no idea why, but a lot of writers have apparently suffered in that way. Now, though, the good news is that I seem to be firing on at three out of four cylinders. There are days when I struggle still, but others when it flows like water from a tap. So the new book will be released later than planned, but only by a few weeks, I hope. Better late than mediocre.
